From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Koningsburg (A "Top 50 Post")

Raise your hand if this book made you want to try and live in a museum! If you didn't raise your hand, you've either never read this book or you are just... weird.

As a child this was one of my all-time favorite books, and I still enjoy revisiting it from time to time. Obviously I was drawn to the strong female "lead," but I also loved the book's sense of mystery and adventure. And it still holds up. I know this because one of my favorite things I ever heard anyone say about this book was that it was so very dated. The reader read it in her childhood and now couldn't get past how 80s the book was.

It was published in 1967.
