Artemis Fowl (Series) by Eoin Colfer (A "Top 50 Post")
The truth is, I just like these books because I'm a sucker for puns. (Artemis kidnaps a leprechaun, or rather, a member of the Lower Elements Police Reconnaissance team. You know, LEPrecon. I can hear you groaning now. Don't even ask about Fission Chips, then.)
They're just... clever. I enjoy that Artemis is actually an evil mastermind. You can't always read about the good guys, right? They are funny, exciting, fairy tales for boys.
(Series favorite? The first one. I admit they get a little repetitive at a certain point, but the first one was simply so fresh and exciting!)
